I also had this shifter on my '51 1/2 PU...I had no end of problems with the linkage locking up from 2nd to 3rd. Replaced linkage twice and even had a Hurst tech rep reinstall and adjust the linkage. The linkage set-up is very sensitve to vibration/wear and requires frequent readjustment. Further,you have to make sure your engine mounts are not worn and are secure as any torquing of the motor in its mounts will impact the the very close tolerances of this linkage.
