The steering column doesn't come out of the gearbox so take off the steering wheel, unbolt gearbox and drop out. Mine is a 4spd floor shift, I used my 2 post lift to raise the cab then rolled the chassis out from under it with the shifter still in place. If you don't have the option of lifting the cab that high maybe you could drop the trans out from underneath. Be careful, that trans is VERY heavy!
