Well, I really didn't mean to disparage doing things freehand. Sorry about that. (In a past life I used to grind and polish telescope mirrors freehand). But I think there is a right way to go about using your hands which involves a lot of your brain.
Couldn't say the shop I took my rockers to used much of their grey matter.
