I finished the rebuild on the Carter YF 2100S today, and got it installed on my '51 Suburban. The Carter replaced the manual choke Rochester carb which I have been running on my '53 Powerglide engine with an 848 head.

This carburetor had been sitting in a shed for many years, and had a lot of corrosion and stuck parts. Much thanks to Dave (homer52) who gave me an old YF carb from which I could salvage a bunch of good parts and the advice I received from others here on the Bolt.

Here is a couple of pictures of the rebuild:

After the installation and a little gas down the throat, the truck fired right up. It was around 35 degrees outside. I tend to cut the choke off shortly after starting, which I did, and the engine then stumbled a bit on acceleration. After she warmed up, it was smooth going easy peasy. Good acceleration and smooth. Did I say smooth?

I am just amazed at how the truck runs with this Carter carb. WOW. Worth every penny. I'll post some more pics of the installation tomorrow.
