I've read that the older truck carburetors are sensitive to fuel pressure. I've got a truck that starts, but won't idle. Seems to be getting all it's fuel from the accelerator pump. I want to replace the fuel pump first. Actually, I'm going to be bypassing most of the original fuel system, with a Briggs and Stratton tank on the front fender and new rubber tubing, through a filter, down to the fuel pump inlet.
Now that I've explained all that, the real question is whether a replacement fuel pump might actually be in the 3 to 3.5 psi range without a regulator. I can't seem to find any regulators at all that cost less than $30.
