| | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 80 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 80 | I haven't been on here in a while, been busy with kids and playing with my Jeep project a lot. I always try to start up my '51 and let it run for a few minutes every month or so in the garage. A couple weeks ago I had it running and then noticed steam coming from the manifold and all around the carb. Gas was leaking through the carb gaskets.
I shut it down as fast as I could. Pulled the carb off and took it apart. The gaskets were pretty brittle. I went straight to Stovebolt.com and found a link to Mikes carburetor parts.com. Within a couple minutes I found the right kit and had it ordered for just under $20 shipped.
A couple days later I received the kit in the mail and got it installed.
Now its running nice and smooth again in the back of the garage, I just need to finish the truck and actually drive it on the road!
