I just looked at the 1954 truck shop manual, and it does say to put the Goodyear Pliabond on the flange and flywheel surfaces. I then looked at the 1949-54 Passenger Car Shop Manual, and it does not say anything about using any sealant.

I have not looked at any other manuals yet to what else is said.

I've never used any sealant in dozens of 235s and 261s, some of which were used for racing.

Has anyone ever used the Pliabond or equivalent?
