I live in the rust capitol of the world...Michigan, and replaced 2 sets of hinge pins. I removed them from the truck...then they spent days soaking in penetrating oil, and even though everything seemed loose it was a real chore to try and drive them out, but I was patient and finally got-r-done. Never thought about cutting them apart...which I'll try next time. Also, my new pins were cheap and too long, so I ended up cutting them and beveling the tips to look like the originals. Janine
