The 14-22 was made for a Chevy and it is the carb the you want providing nobody has changed anything inside of it. THE CARB YOU WANT, PERIOD.
This is the exact carb that Frank McGurk used on his 2X1 setup. The actual box number is a 380269.
It should have:
#54 power by-pass jet
#58 pump by-pass jet
.058" main jet
and the idle tube should have #54 hole at the top and a #70 tube dia. at the bottom. The idle tubes are unmarked and would have to be measured with drill gages.
The 2-22 carb was made for a Ford and it should have:
#54 The same power by-pass jet --- GOOD
#56 pump by-pass jet --- NEED TO FIND A #58
.057" main jet-- WILL NEED TO FIND A .058" DIA.
And the idle tube is the same as your 14-22 carb --THAT IS ALSO GOOD and lucky.
Again it should have these sizes if nobody has replaced anything in the past. Being NOS i would doubt it.
So if all your numbers are good inside you will have to come up with:
a #58 pump by pass jet
and a .058" main jet.
Two BXOV rebuild kits, which are still out there at about $50. each
The .058" main jets are out here to be had, so that's no problem. (I have extras of these)
But the #58 pump by-pass jet may be harder to find ???? (I'm still looking for a supplier myself)
You are almost there, if you can find a #58 pump by-pass jet then you will have the perfict matched pair of BXOV-2's for your 2X1.
Do this and it will turn your 2-22 Ford carb into a 14-22 Chevy carb. ( I love these little jewels )
Now if you can not come up with a #58 pump by-pass jet, what I would reccomend would be to carefully drill out the #58 jet to make it a #56 size. At least your two carbs will match each other. I would want them to at least match each other on your set up, even though the smaller #58 would be the ideal size. And I would only do this as a last resort.
I am talking number size drills here, so the larger the # is the smaller the hole is in inches. (I know , I still get confused myself)
