For soda and sand blasting, you'll need a minimum of 5hp "RUNNING", 60 gal machine that puts out 18+cfm at 90psi, as well as a dessicant dryer. No dryer, no blasting!
For mig welding sheet metal and frames, a minimum of a 130 amp machine is needed. I have a Lincoln 180. Alhough thereare some subtle differences, I think all brand name machines are good (Miller, Lincoln, even Eastwood).
