Did you remove the 2 screws in each side of the windshield frame?? These screw into the metal bar in the center of the frame to keep the left and right sections togather. Sometimes these are sheared off or just to chewed up to remove intact. I drilled them out and then applied lots of PB blaster and then tapped them apart.
