Jerry is 110 percent correct! You need to fix the problem and not treat the symptoms. If the 6 volt charging system you have now cannot keep a 6 volt battery fully charged there is no way it will ever keep an 8 volt battery fully charged. If you fix the 6 volt system it will work fine. Randy
