#79422 07/06/2007 6:40 PM | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 | I am led to understand that the u-joint is connected and you are having trouble with the four bolts that connect the ball housing on the torque tube to the rear of the transmission. Was the rear of the truck on jack stands when you removed the old transmission and is it off the stands now as you are reassembling? Sometimes by raising the rear wheels the torque tube will move in and out and this may close the gap.
On my 49 I had the rear axle on stands when i took it apart but had it on the floor when i tried to assemble it. would not meet up until I raised the rear axle again. Worth a try. | | |
