For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! I think for $5-600 you should be able to pick up a parts truck as described. One consideration on the early cab 47-48 is you will not be able to fit your behind the seat tank so if no external tank comes with the early truck you will have to source something. Also the early cab mounts differently it does not have shackles at the rear cab corners but has a single pivot assembly in the center of the cab and bumpers to the frame. Don't limit yourself to searching for small trucks a 2-ton cab will fit just as good as a 1/2-ton. The only down side is the other front sheet metal will be to large. Good luck with your search I have been very lucky here in Utah there are large numbers of these trucks avaialble. A complete running AD/GMC here is easily available in the 2K range any day and parts trucks as I stated are numerous as well. I have bought several of the large trucks and just cut them in half to get them on my trailer. Here is and example of what I would look for: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=0&nid=443&tab=list/view&ad=4662448 | | |
