Longbox: Good point on the spline count, I probably would have missed that.

Big Chevy: You're right, my '75 has a 10 bolt.

I was hoping to be able to just replace the entire chunk, buuuuuut... I even broke out the BIGGER BFH today to no avail. There must be a major burr or something on the shaft. I drove the pin out enough to free the washer on one of the gears, but now it's stuck like it was welded. I've been trying to drive the pin back and forth hoping to break past the burr or whatever it is, but now I have it jammed and have to wait till morning to break out the die grinder because I mushroomed the top of the pin. My uncle found a place locally that sells the replacement spiders and pin for $99. At this point I'm about to take the blue tipped wrench to it and say the heck with it and have him buy the replacement kit. Although, his truck does look darn good in my driveway, I'd like him to be able to drive it soon.

Has anyone had a gear set sieze up like this on them before? I was just wondering if this a fluke or is this common. I've had them crumble and spit teeth out through the cover before, but never seen one sieze up like this.

Thanks again.....
