I saw a guy move his firewall back quite a ways by cutting the firewall and welding in a wheelbarrow! He said it used to be done quite a bit, they are readily available, they are smooth looking front and back. . .I thought it was a good idea. Ditto on moving the radiator though - you need all the room you can get inside!
