Sounds like we are progressing on our '54 windows at about the same pace.
Other guys can give more experienced answers that I can, but I'm kinda following the adhesive / sealant info in the Shop Manual and the Assembly Manual. Using the minimum amount to ease disassembly during the next tear down.
I used a few streaks of RTV gasket goo behind the fuzzies on the inner door garnish to replace the rubber that my drill bit grabbed and pulled off when I drilled the holes for the staples.
Used 3-M Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive between the rain deflector and the outer door garnish as instructed in the Assembly Manual.
Didn't use adhesive behind the rubber wipes in the door.
Installed the vent rubber in the frame today and will set the pivot rivets tonight. Hope to attach the rest of the weather stripping and finish installing my windows and vent assemblies this week. I'll make the final decision about adhesive as I go.
