You only need to use lead additives if your cylinder head has not had hardened exhaust valve seats installed. This process is done by cutting a counterbore and pressing in a seat, then cutting for the valve. If your head has been in a machine shop in the last 20 years, its probably been done. If it is original, you take the chance of burning a valve on unleaded gas.
