It's just stamped steel over a filter screen. Oddly, when I google for Gates Oil Breather Cap Chevrolet, I get
this item. It looks pretty much like what I received from the reproduction house, but not very "period."
I'll paint it- it looks odd being the only bright thing under the hood besides the metal fuel lines.
