To directly answer your question , the is a small window just above the starter , it has a tiny pointer hanging down and when the engine is idling , you'll see a ball bearing pressed into a hole on the flywheel , line it up with the pointer
and you're good to go . you might consider removing the flywheel splash pan and marking the ball bearing with a circle of white paint as it is hard to see , use the wifey-poo's nail polish ,
it'll last forever .
There should be _no_ vacuum at the advance hose when the engine is at idle ! .
