Charlie, who is Leo (I cannot find the name in the above posts)?
Is your "stainless strip" attached to the sliding window or to the stationary window. On my stationary window (1954 Chevrolet Suburban) the whisker slides into a groove in the stainless steel strip attached tho the stationary window (tight fit) - I do not recall gluing it but that might be a good idea for sealing it.
