Just don't do like I did. When i was in high school I had a 327 in a camaro. It had a 3 speed,2 barrel and single exhaust. I quickly added headers,dual exhaust, large port and valve heads, big 4 barrel and i lost all the low end torque and gained hi end horsepower. A 2 barrel is fine. You only use the extra 2 barrels in a 4 barrel about 5% of the time. Contact any of the popular cam vendors. Let them know you set up and ask for something to help the low end torque and mileage. 283 are great engines and love to wind up which gives you your horsepower. Some vendors even just recommend different rocker arms with a larger ratio that increase air flow and low speed torque. Buck
