When I come to a stop while driving my all-original 41 pickup (216, Carter carb) the motor idles too fast - about 1500 rpm. If I give the gas pedal a swift kick it slows down to a good slow idle. In the throttle linkage there is noticeable free play at two places: the bell crank is loose on its shaft, and the lever on the throttle shaft is also loose. Should I aim to rebuild these? Would a stronger return spring help? I'd welcome any suggestions
