Dear Abby,

Currently changing to discs with the kit from Chevy Duty on my AD. Bearing adapter went on fine (driver's side). Rotor and inner bearing - no problem. Outer bearing won't budge. The directions indicate the " 3/4 portion of the spindle may need to be turned down a few thousandths by a machine shop for the bearing to seat properly." It won't even go on past the threads, let alone seat properly. It feels like the old outer race wore a groove on the spindle which has a lip the new bearing won't pass. I tried to Dremel it down, but it still won't go over it. Should I take the spindle to get professionally turned, or look for new ones, or what?

Frustrated in Detroit.

Your lack of preparation is not my emergency
