Check for up & down play in the pinion on the outside by the drive shaft. There should be none. Check the carrier for side to side movement. There should be none there either. If there is a small amount of play in the carrier you can adjust the bearings by removing the locks on both sides & screw the adjusters in an equeal amount on both sides til they snug up & the play is gone. Replace the locks.
