I am curious. What did the factory treat the frame with? My truck (53 Chevy) had a little bit of surface rust but very little pitting. It looked like bare steel to me so I wire brushed and painted it black.
After giving it some thought, I think I should have left it alone. It lasted just fine for over 50 years without my black paint.
