| | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 | The shimmed main bearings allow for minor adjustments due to bearing wear. Usually you don't have to shim when they're new. Unless you're getting the engine balanced, you won't have any problems. And if you are getting it balanced, you should get the main bearings line-bored to match the crank journals, negating the shims.
