You don't need a cam card; just degree it and record the lift every 5 degrees of rotation. You should be able to document the location of the clearance ramps and the actual valve travel, and draw a lift curve on graph paper. Find the lobe centerline for both intake and exhaust, and adjust the advance/retard accordingly. It's possible you've got a bad cam grind. I've never heard of a cam grinder who does not supply a specification card with their cam.
