Hi. I have some basic questions regarding fuel line options. I want to replace and reroute the fuel line in my '61, and probably replace and reroute part of them in an '84 GMC truck as well.
I'm not a fan of rubber hoses and hose clamps in the engine compartment. And I also don't like the fuel line anywhere near the belts, fan blades and valve covers. (I could tell you a very fiery fire story that happened to '72 VW Super Beetle I once had - before it burned to the ground.)
Any how, I'd like to change the fuel lines and reroute them along the cowl area. Someone mentioned some flexible braided stuff that sounded interesting, but I'm wondering what type of fittings I could use. And are there adapters to go from the carb inlet to a special fitting. Summit Racing (and others I'm sure) have something called an AN fitting. Are these good? Would I need special crimpers to make my own hoses? And how about adapters to go from AN to hose to accomodate regualr type fuel filters if needed? And one more question, what size should I get? I would need to hook it to the fuel sending unit on the tank. I guess there's adapters for that as well.
What would you guys sugggest, and maybe pics of things you've done to modify your OEM fuel delivery system would be great.
