Depends on what you use. Growing corn or something is very intensive...fertilizer, bug sprays, tilling, machinery, etc.
Now if we looked to using non-farm products...grass, hay, and other self replicating plants that don't need that intensive care...it would be better.
But leave it up to the gov't to screw something up.
