Im currently working on a 1950 GMC 100 pickup, it has the 3 speed trans with a 228 I6 motor. Ive opted to take the three speed out in lieu of a Saginaw 4 speed swap with a more modern rear end. I also was considering doing some performance work to the 228, which is why I'm here. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to beef up the 228 motor? Cams, twin carbs, new head etc? Where are places that offer performance parts for these motors? I have also considered a 305 or 350 SBC swap...would I be better financially to do that? Thanks for any tips or advise in advance!
