Here's a pic of the front of my 46, showing the location of the bracket you're looking for. As you can see, it isn't chrome, but it is mounted to the center of the front bumper.
As for the AD having the crank discontinued??? I would agree on the later AD models. However, I think some of the early AD's still come with cranks.
The old farmer I bought my 46 from has an original 48, and he's sure got a crank with it.
