Welcome to the "BOLT", your at the right place for your truck. The 270 in your truck is not drilled for oil gallies to the lifter bores, so no you can't change to hydraulic lifters. As a rule cams are ground for a specific lifter and should not be used with other types. As for the push rods yes they need to be the open type for hydraulic lifter to feed oil to the rocker assemblies. Good luck.
