Tried to drive the truck again last Friday and another new problem popped up.
The offset rod which has a threaded end that goes through the clutch fork - it has two 3/4 inch nuts on it which you use to adjust the clutch - pulls the top end of the "L" rod over to the left so far that when the clutch pedal is depressed, it forces the entire clutch pedal off of the axis the clutch pedal travels on. It actually pushed the large hair pin off the end of the axis point on which it travels as you push the clutch in and out. The link between the bottom of the clutch pedal and the off set rod is linked together with a few links of chain and the chain does not ride in a straight line but is pushed over to the left as the pedal is depressed and as it moves, it pushes the clutch right off the end of pivot.
I finally moved the chain back from the factory spot on the "L" shaped rod, more to be right and in line with the bottom of the clutch pedal, where the chain hooks on, to get it to work. It works fine there, but, of course, that's not where it's supposed to be. Has anybody else had this problem? Does anyone know if the "L" rods vary in size or shape from year to year or model to model?
Any suggestions are appreciated!
