Some suggestions: (1) Mount it inside a frame rail away from the exhaust,(2)mount it under the bed, but away from the driveshaft area,(3) mount it under the cab floor on the passenger side.
As to how to mount it: you will have to fabricate some brackets that are designed for the area you choose.
