Step #1 in the Adjustments in the Shop Manual at the links above state: "Disconnect the steering connecting rod from the pitman arm . . "
Nothing is stated above having to remove the pitman arm.
Follow the procedures for making the two adjustments: (1) the worm bearing and (2) the lash adjuster.
