I had the carb rebuilt http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x362/vilage-idiot/Carb005.jpg for the '59 Apache 235. I know I have looked at some other posts referring to the hole http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x362/vilage-idiot/Carb001.jpg in the base of the carb and whether or not it is covered or uncovered. I paid attention when I removed the carb to see if it had the hole covered and mine did http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x362/vilage-idiot/Carb002.jpg , but when the carb shop gave me the a new gasket it had 4 holes in it so no matter which way you turned it it would expose the hole in the base. I questioned him on it and he said if it had a hole it should be exposed and that was the gasket that was supplied with the kit for that carb so I should use it. As you can see by this pic http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x362/vilage-idiot/Carb004.jpg the intake side has channels cut to accommodate the hole.

So I guess My question Is this: what is the hole for and should I cover it as it was or should it be open as the carb shop suggests.
