Air / fuel mixture is burned. Oil will also be with-in that mixture. Coolant / water will not 'burn', but can also be with-in that mixture. This trio can be identified at the tailpipe. Black smoke is unburned fuel. {rich air/fuel mixture}
Blue smoke is oil. White, steam.
Look into the carb air horn at idle. If fuel is bleeding into the carb, the float level is high. {check inlet needle and float specs} The white is steam, head gasket.? ? Pin point "it's burning". Black will be an easy fix at the carb. Oil burning at the valve stems, rings, cylinder walls, overhaul. Some heavy oil/ STP will help some. Good luck.
