There is a quick way to fix it, and has been done a zillion times. Drive the stud back down with a brass hammer and cross drill the boss and insert a spring type roll pin thru the boss and the stud, put some grease around the boss to catch the shavings, clean it up assemble and adjust the valve. This is how it was done before someone came up with screw in studs.
