welcome to the garage Dean - what is the number on the title? the usual practice back then was to use the engine number as the "vin" on titles, not the unit ID from the body tag -
see here for ID's on 42's and 46's, each year has a section on serial number info - otherwise it's pretty hard to tell the years apart for sure, especially with 60+ years of unknown history on it
