LDO, I can give you one answer fairly quickly: the "felt" liner is glued into place. I used a Perma-Tex product and fashioned a piece of wood to press the felt against all three sides of the channel.
I got my rivets from a re-supply house, they came with the rebuild kit. I didn't have a gun. I had to use brute force and an anvil. Not elegant, but it got the job done.
My brain is cloudy concerning the rivet positioning. You'll have help on the way soon, I'm sure.
