The factory edge angles are welded in place, but the spot-welds can be easily drilled out, in order to remove them. Be careful not to go through both the angle strip and the bed side, since you will be putting new ones in place. When installing the new ones, I drill holes in the new strips and puddle-weld them to the bed sides. After top-dressing the puddle-welds, they look close to factory. They can also be drilled and bolted in place with carriage-head fasteners.
