The blocks are the same, they changed the crank to a longer stroke for the 250. If you can get a look in the spark plug hole at the piston tops, you can tell the difference. 230 will have four valve reliefs like 90% of all engines have, the 250 will have one big dish right in the center that takes up the whole piston top.

The rest of the engine is all the same except for the camshaft spec's, the 250 has a slightly bigger cam.
