Your neighbor knows how to install ring gears. I'd only add that you can take the flywheel and put it in the deep freeze for a week before hand. That will shrink the flywheel. I would put the ring gear in the oven at say 500 for 1 hour. That will expand the ring gear nicely.
Should fit together nicely.
