I was just reading the thread about the carb insulator plate and it got me thinking. . .On my old Jeep with a 4.0 inline six engine, I saw some mild power/economy gains by intalling a riser between the manifold and the carb. Basically a tube to lengthen the distance the fuel/air mixture has to go. I have seen some with spirals built into them to cause a "swirl" to get a better mixture of air and fuel.

Has anyone tried this on a stovebolt? I am installing a 292 in my '50 and wondering if it is worth the time and effort to build one for my carb.
