If for some reason the old one is bad I'd upgrade to the newer, it's not that much trouble or money.

I also agree that learning to drive what you have is a superb idea, and it really isn't all that bad either.

But I might not be one to take advice from... I removed the synchronized transmission in my truck and swapped for a completely non synchronized one...
