Hey bigbadswingdaddy, I agree with your advice on the 292. I'm going to try to find one this weeks all goes well. Fortunately Oregon where I live passed a law last year that it doesn't matter whats under the hood as long as it burns clean. My truck is an 87 and this is the last year for emissions on it. After 20 years old no more is required. Fortunately I don't live in the Portland Metro area as they are tested under load and have a high failure rate up there. Medford where I live is in the Rogue Valley. Before they had done under hood inspections but thank God no more. Eventually when the $$$ come in, I may add a Holley TBI to the 292. For now a good Edelbrock small 4bbl should do just fine with a Clifford or Offy intake and maybe a spacer. I wonder if a 2bbl from a 350 or other small block would be a good choice over the 4bbl? Should I take off the cat on my system or leave it on as its also 3" and is working just fine with the new Magnaflow Stainless muffler? If I do a rebuild on the 292 what pistons and cam would be the best for a daily driver? Stock with the block decked a bit or just some headwork? H.
