The opening of each bow is facing to the front. The bow should fit over the rearward piece of cardboard. You have to screw the bow in, through the piece of cardboard.
Are there holes in your bow?
Do you see the holes in the roof cross-brace (the screws in the bows go through the cardboard and are screwed into the holes in the roof cross brace).
After the bow has been screwed in, you insert the next piece of cardboard into the slot in the bow (and into the slots in the side rails).
