I had the same thing happen to me, I just removed the Vent portion by drilling out the rivets that connect the little swivel hinge to the vent assembly frame, replaced with a new one and replace rivets. you will have to bend the swivel hinge a little.
truely the easiest way is to replace the whole thing, but mine were just rebuilt and I had the replacement vent window as a spare.
