I need a high temperature paint for the exhaust manifold
Painting an exhaust manifold is a total waste of time and effort. It won't last more than a few minutes once the engine comes up to running temperature. Powder coating might be an option, but that's not a do-it-yourself project for most of us due to the cost of the equipment necessary to do it right. I use a bake-on surface finishing product called Cerama-Coat in my gunsmithing work but I've never tried it on something that runs as hot as an exhaust- - - -not sure if it would work or not, but it might be worth a try sometime. It forms a very durable matte black finish that is used instead of conventional bluing on gun steel. After a beadblasting or scuff-sanding operation, 3 coats are sprayed on with a rattle can, with a 30-minute dry time between coats. Then it's baked for an hour at 350 degrees F. The resulting finish can't be scrubbed off with vigorous application of steel wool. If it will stand the high temps developed by the manifold, it might look pretty good.
